Julie and her two children ages 8 and 14 have moved around many times throughout their lives. Most recently, the family found themselves living out of a small motel room for over seven months. When Julie could no longer afford the cost of the motel and was facing eviction, she reached out to NUMAS Haus for help.
Within a month of arriving at NUMAS Haus, the family was able to secure a three bedroom apartment. Things quickly fell into place, and NUMAS Haus helped the family move in to their new apartment and gain access to resources to help furnish the apartment.
It was quickly discovered that Julie was struggling in her new housing, most notably that she had a tendency to hoard items, and that she would need additional assistance and resources in order to provide a safe and healthy environment for her and her family. This a perfect example of why our case management program is so important. If not for the additional help after leaving NUMAS Haus, Julie and her family would very likely already be facing eviction once again.
With the help of NUMAS Haus and Brown County Human Services, Julie and her family have been set up with many valuable resources to help them succeed. Some of these resources include mental health services for both mom and her children, education services for her children, budgeting and finance skills, organization skills, scheduling and time management skills, and so much more!
Julie and her children continue to make progress daily, but still have a lot of room to grow. We look forward to continuing to work with this family, offering education, resources, and encouragement along the way, in order to assist in providing a life-long stable living environment for Julie and her children.
