VOLUNTEER!

You can help! As the renovation project at NUMAS Haus reaches the halfway mark, we could use a few helping hands to reduce labor costs.

Saturday, March 12 – Clean and prep for painting

Saturday, March 19 – Painting!

Go to lotsahelpinghands.org and search for NUMAS Haus to sign up for one or both service opportunities.

Thank you, thank you!

This is the time of year when most non-profits have a hand out, encouraging you to make a tax-deductible charitable donation before the year ends.

We aren’t doing that.

Instead, the Board of Directors of NUMAS Haus wishes to express its profound gratitude for all that you, our supporters, have already contributed in 2015 to help us provide shelter and services to homeless single mother families.

To date, we have raised enough cash to begin construction. The extensive renovation of NUMAS Haus, including a new kitchen, two new bathrooms, an office, and sleeping space for up to three families at a time, is about to begin. You made this possible. Thank you.

We are now raising the funds to hire a shelter coordinator and begin furnishing the house for occupancy. NUMAS Haus will begin providing shelter and services within the next few months. You made this possible. Thank you.

One of our goals is to raise awareness of the need for a place like NUMAS Haus. More groups are asking us to come share our story, and more organizations are partnering with NUMAS Haus to provide shelter and services to single mother families in New Ulm. Articles have appeared in the New Ulm Journal, the River Valley Woman magazine, and on the website of the Minnesota Conference of the United Methodist Church.
You made this possible. Thank you.

As 2015 draws to a close, and we look forward to a year in which we can finally begin to realize the dream of helping homeless families get on their feet, we want to thank you for your financial support, your prayers, your questions, and your willingness to help. You’ll be hearing more from us early next year, as we draw closer to Opening Day. There will be plenty of opportunities for you to help make a difference in the lives of homeless single mother families. But right now, know that you are already making a difference, and we are grateful for you and your generosity. Have a very merry Christmas, and a blessed New Year!

Work Day at NUMAS Haus!

Friends of NUMAS Haus, Bill Day will lead a workday this Saturday, September 26, 2015, beginning at 9:00AM – and you are welcome to join him! He needs 3-5 people to help remove kitchen cabinets and fixtures. One large cabinet, original to the house, may be valuable as architectural salvage, so the goal is to keep it intact as it is removed. (You can make a bid for it when you see it!)

You will need prybars and other carpentry tools, and appropriate eye protection, as well as work gloves and closed-toe shoes.

The house is located at 606 Center Street, between First United Methodist Church and the Lind House. You can sign up for this work day at www.lotsahelpinghands.com/c/728853/ If you are not already a member, just click on the “join community” button, type NUMAS into the search box, and follow the directions to become a member. Once approved, you can go to the calendar page and put your name in one of the spots listed.

See you on Saturday!
